Rashid Khan of Afghanistan will miss the three-match T20 series against India because of a lower-back disease.
Afghanistan allrounder Rashid Khan will miss the three-match T20 series against India because he needs more time to heal from a lower-back ailment that necessitated surgery, according to skipper Ibrahim Zadran on the eve of the first match.
Khan has withdrawn from T20 franchise competitions in Australia and South Africa since his injury in November.
“He is not totally fit, but is travelling with the team… he’s doing his rehab with the doctor, and we will miss him in the series,” Zadran was quoted as saying by media in Mohali.
Khan, 25, is one of Afghanistan’s most successful T20 cricket players. He previously represented Afghanistan in T20 internationals and has played in the Indian Premier League since 2017.
“Without the Rashid, we will struggle because his experience is important to all of us, but this is cricket and you need to be ready for any kind of situation,” he said.
Afghanistan will face India in three Twenty20 matches from January 11 to 17.
