The Congress party said on Wednesday they will not attend the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22.
According to a party statement, “the inauguration of the incomplete temple by the leaders of the BJP and the RSS has been obviously brought forward for political gain.” “Honoring the feelings of millions of devotees of Lord Ram, and according to the 2019 Supreme Court ruling, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, and Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury have respectfully declined the invitation to what is clearly an RSS/BJP event.”
For the consecration event, a number of well-known politicians, athletes, and celebrities were invited. The Congress leaders Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Sonia Gandhi were invited, along with the former prime minister Manmohan Singh. Lalu Yadav, Sitaram Yechury, and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are among the other opposition figures who received invitations to the function.
PARTIES REACT TO CONGRESS’ DECISION
In response to the Congress move, the BJP labeled the Grand Old Party as “anti-Ram.” “The Congress is envious of Prime Minister Modi,” the BJP added.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated that the Congress is mired in rhetoric. “They are mired in their rhetoric…Why should we take them seriously? “They’ll be sorry if they don’t go,” he remarked.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) said that the Congress’ decision to skip the ceremony event belonged to everyone, not only Prime Minister Narendra Modi. NCP also claimed that one party’s decision not to attend the event is their own choice.
The Trinamool Congress also stated that not attending the event is a party choice before labeling it a “political gimmick” by the BJP. Several opposition parties, including the TMC, have stated that they will not attend the ceremony.
However, it was previously claimed by VHP chief Alok Kumar that an official from the VHP had approached Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the SP, with an invitation to the ceremony. Yadav allegedly refused the invitation, citing it as being from a “stranger”.
He had previously said that he would go if invited, as we had witnessed. He received an invitation in the mail. However, he now claims that he would go if Lord Ram asked him to. It will be evident that even Ram does not want him to appear if he does not show up, according to Kumar.
