The CBI has submitted its status report, and the Supreme Court will hear the case today.

The Supreme Court has received a status report on the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. On August 20, the Supreme Court took suo motu cognizance and heard the RG Kar College incident. During the hearing, the court instructed the CBI and the Bengal government to provide a status report on the incident inquiry. The CBI has submitted its status report, and the Supreme Court will hear the case today.

The Bengal government’s legal staff consists of 21 lawyers.

According to media sources, the legal team supporting the Bengal government in the RG Kar Medical College issue before the Supreme Court consists of 21 lawyers. At the same time, the central government’s legal team consists of five lawyers. During the hearing on Tuesday, the Supreme Court expressed severe concern about the event at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and ordered the formation of a National Task Force to ensure doctor safety. The court also brought up major concerns regarding the Bengal administration and police. The Supreme Court further criticised the Bengal Police for failing to secure the crime scene at RG Kar Medical College.

During the first hearing, the Supreme Court raised a number of critical questions.

The Supreme Court also questioned Sandip Ghosh, the former Principal of RG Kar Medical College, about his working style and why he had not filed a FIR even after several hours. The Supreme Court also expressed displeasure that the deceased’s family members had to wait several hours to see her body. A woman doctor was brutally murdered after being raped at RG Kar Medical College. Doctors and medical students from across the country are demonstrating against this. The Indian Medical Association and FORDA, a group of resident doctors, are also protesting this occurrence.
