Following the intense rains that led Cyclone Remal, waterlogging was recorded at the Raj Bhavan in Manipur, officials said on Friday.
Manipur has been destroyed by Cyclone Remal. The floods in the Imphal valley of the state, brought on by heavy rains, have affected thousands of residents. There have also been three fatalities. Several places have been flooded and hundreds of houses were impacted by the Imphal River flooding. Information of waterlogging in the Raj Bhavan is still emerging.
Following days of intense rains brought on by Cyclone Remal, waterlogging was recorded at the Raj Bhavan in Manipur, officials said on Friday.They stated that the rain-caused floods in the Imphal valley took the lives of three people and injured many more.
Ningombam Bupenda, a spokesperson for the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), uploaded images on social media site X. “Raj Bhawan is drowning in floods,” he declared. The Manipur Governor personally monitoring the water level at Raj Bhawan is a terrible idea.”
Much of the Imphal region is under water as a result of the city’s unusual floods. He stated that a quick decrease in the water level is required. Senior Congressman Jairam Ramesh responded to Bupenda’s article by criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, ‘The outgoing Prime Minister is in deep meditation.’ Awangbou Newmai, the minister of Manipur Water Resources, Relief, and Disaster Management, said on Thursday night that the northeastern state’s floods had damaged at least 24,265 homes and affected 1,88,143 people in total. A two-day national holiday for all state offices till May 31 was given by the government on Thursday in response to the major flooding brought on by breaches in embankments along the river.
