Syed Mazahir Ali’s wife, Ruqiya Fatima, wrote to the Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday.
The wife of an Indian student who was significantly attacked by four unidentified thieves in Chicago, United States, contacted the Indian government for medical and representation in court. On February 4, a student named Syed Mazahir Ali was attacked and robbed.
Ruqiya Fatima, the wife of Syed Mazahir Ali, addressed to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday. “This is to state that my husband Syed Mazahir Ali who was working towards a Masters in Information and Technology from Indiana Wesley University, I got a call around 6 pm on February 4 from one of my husband’s friends that he had been attacked very badly and robbed at Campbell Ave, Chicago while he was near his apartment and has been taken to some hospital,” she wrote in the letter.
According to Ruqiya Fatima, Ali is in a state of “shock” and unable to speak due to his current psychological state. “I’m quite concerned about my husband’s safety and security. I want you to kindly support him in getting the best medical treatment and, if possible, make the appropriate arrangements so that I can fly to the United States with my three small children to be with my husband,” she wrote.
Earlier, a video of the gruesome event circulated on social media, in which Ali is shown bleeding excessively. In the video, he can be heard imploring “Please help me bro, please help me” while visibly terrified and panting.
