Angad thanks dad for the gold medal
On his Instagram feed, Angad shared a compilation of images from the event, including his winning moment. For the post, he also included a few images of himself and his late father. “Didn’t have the heart, didn’t have the courage,” he wrote next to the video. Neither my body nor my thoughts were willing. But I was able to survive because of an outside power from above. Even though it wasn’t my best moment or form, we managed to succeed. My most treasured possession will always be this gold. I appreciate you being here, Dad.
“To my coach… @mirandabrinston sir, thank you for being with me throughout this journey,” he said, also expressing gratitude to his wife Neha Dhupia. You were there like a rock even though there were more bad days than good. Thanks, @prachishah11 doc, for everything you’ve done and are still doing. I’m going to land and head straight for you. Nehad Hupai You have put up with me, and you have no say in the matter. When you grow up, I want to run with you both, Mehrunissa and Guriq.”
Angad’s way of honouring his father
In a press release following his gold medal victory, Angad discussed his father: “This victory is dedicated to my father; he always taught me to keep my head down and let my actions speak. His insight has always greatly influenced me. I entered this race because I knew my father would have approved of it. It’s how I pay tribute to him and his legacy.”
“Sportsmanship is in my blood,” he continued. And I want to follow my father’s wishes to the letter. I participated in this event as a tribute to him and the principles he instilled in me during his amazing life. He is and always will be my beacon of hope and support. I am also incredibly appreciative of Coach Miranda’s leadership and mentoring, since her knowledge has been crucial to my development.”
Angad is competing in his first international sprinting competition. He competed in a sprinting competition earlier this year in Mumbai, his hometown, and won a silver medal.
