At the same evening, “The Kashmir Files,” directed by Vivek Agnihotri, took home the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration. Vivek Agnihotri is well known for having criticized Johar’s style of filmmaking in the past and for accusing him and star Shah Rukh Khan of “damaging India’s cultural fabric.” Shah Rukh and Karan have not replied to these remarks.
Johar, meanwhile, thanked the audience for the honor and discussed the true story that ‘Shershaah’ tells. On X (previously known as Twitter), Agnihotri posted a video of himself accepting his award and dedicated it to the victims of Islamic extremism.
