According to BCCI secretary Jay Shah, three member nations have written to the ICC requesting a revision in their World Cup dates.
A day after multiple reports suggested that the ICC World Cup 2023 showpiece between archrivals India and Pakistan would be rescheduled, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah reportedly revealed on Thursday that three member nations had written to the International Cricket Council (ICC) requesting a change in their World Cup schedules.
According to PTI, BCCI secretary Shah indicated that the World Cup 2023 schedule may change after three ICC full members expressed reservations. “Three members have requested a schedule change from the ICC.” Only the date and times will be altered; the locations will remain unchanged. We are attempting to decrease the six-day gap between games to 4-5 days. The image will be clear in three to four days. Changes will be made in cooperation with the ICC, according to Shah.
“We’re focusing on housekeeping, clean toilets, and general hygiene.” A pre-World Cup project and a post-World Cup project will cover all stadiums. Signage around the stadiums will be improved. A number of stadiums are linked by metro. We will encourage fans to use this method to get to the venues. We made a significant choice to provide free water to supporters. We’ll talk about it with our ICC partners. “Free water in a bottle or glass will be provided,” Shah added.
Last month, the ICC and BCCI published the World Cup schedule. According to the schedule, India and Pakistan will clash at the world’s largest stadium in Ahmedabad. According to prior reports, the India-Pakistan conflict could be moved up a day to October 14. “Because October 15 falls on the first day of Navratri celebrations, security agencies have advised that the big game, which will also necessitate a heavy deployment of security officials, should be rescheduled,” a BCCI source told the news agency.
The BCCI has called a conference for all state associations hosting World Cup games in India on Friday in New Delhi. According to a state unit official, the conference has been scheduled to examine World Cup preparations. The ICC World Cup 2023 will be contested in India from October 5 to November 19. The World Cup will be held in Delhi, Dharamsala, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chennai, and Kolkata. In the World Cup opener on October 5 in Ahmedabad, England will face New Zealand.
