Pahuja’s family members identified the body using two tattoos – one on her shoulder and another on her lower back, according to authorities.

Gurugram police claimed on Saturday that they recovered the body of Divya Pahuja, an ex-model who was shot dead last week in a city hotel, from the Bhakra canal near Fatehabad in Haryana.

According to Vijay Pratap Singh, deputy commissioner of police (DCP crime), their two squads were dispatched on the stretch, and the body traveled around 150 kilometers before being discovered in the Bhakra canal near Fatehabad.

Singh stated that the body was thrown on January 3, the day after she was murdered. Police based their investigation on statements made by Balraj Gill, one of the individuals accused of disposing of her remains.

Following the receipt of the information, a search operation with 42 divers was begun on Friday, and the body was discovered at 10.30 a.m., according to the DCP.

According to police, the body had not decomposed due to the cold and would be taken for a postmortem at Fatehabad Civil Hospital later in the day.

According to authorities, Pahuja’s family members recognized her body using two tattoos – one on her shoulder and another on her lower back.

Naina Pahuja, the deceased’s sister, stated that they were on their way to the scene after receiving images from the police and identifying the body. “After the postmortem, we will try to dispose of the body today.” “We will transport her body to Gurugram,” she said.

Police said they had created six teams to undertake searches in a 200-kilometer radius around Patiala.

The news arises a day after Gill was caught at the Kolkata airport on his way to New Delhi. On Friday, a Gurugram police squad got his transit remand from a Kolkata court, and both the police and the suspect arrived in Gurugram after being placed on a three-day transit remand.

Pahuja, 27, was out on bail after serving seven years in prison for an alleged false meeting with notorious mobster Sandeep Gadoli when she was assassinated on January 2. According to police, she was blackmailing Abhijeet Singh, a hotel owner in the city, who allegedly shot her dead at one of his properties. In connection with the case, police arrested Abhijeet and three others.

However, two of his associates, Gill and Ravi Bandra, escaped Gurugram in a blue BMW vehicle with the body. On January 4, police discovered the truck in Patiala.
