According to earlier reports, they were suspended for “complete disrespect of the chair’s directions.”

New Delhi : The Lok Sabha Speaker dismissed 14 opposition members of parliament on Thursday for disruptive behavior. The Congress has nine, the CPIM has two, the DMK has two, and the CPI has one. The opposition is outraged by the security breach in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday and has demanded a reply from union home minister Amit Shah.

The Lok Sabha initially voted to approve suspending five Congress members of parliament – TN Prathapan, Hibi Eden, Dean Kuriakose, Jothi Mani, and Ramya Haridas – for the duration of the winter session for “utter disregard to the chair’s directions.”

“With your permission, I move that this house take serious note of the conduct of TN Prathapan, Hibi Eden, S Jothimani, Ramya Haridas, and Dean Kuriakos in total disregard of the chair’s house.” “The above-mentioned members should be suspended from serving in the house for the remainder of the session,” said Pralhad Joshi, the union minister of parliamentary affairs, amid opposition MPs’ sloganeering.

Later, 9 opposition party members of parliament were suspended. Benny Behanan, VK Sreekandan, Mohammad Jawed, PR Natarajan, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, K Subrahmanyam, SR Parthiban, S Venkatesan, and Manickam Tagore are the names on the list.

The move came only hours after TMC Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien was suspended from the House for “unruly” behavior.

After the Leader of the House Piyush Goyal presented a resolution in this regard, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar suspended the TMC MP for the balance of the session.

Later, TMC MP Dola Sen rejected the action against Derek O’Brien.

It is the opposition’s responsibility to bring up the matter because it pertains to national security. This issue would not have happened if the Home Minister had spoken in the House. It is our right at opposition to raise the issue, so we went to the Well and raised slogans. They are free to suspend us for that if they so choose,” she remarked.

Congressman Pramod Tiwari suggested that the Chairman reevaluate his decision.

What use does it serve if Members of Parliament don’t speak up? Two individuals broke through the security at the Temple of Democracy, using a BJP MP as a conduit. “A bomb found its way into the House, be it a colour bomb or a smoke bomb,” Tiwari stated.

From the visitors’ gallery, two trespassers sprang into the Lok Sabha chamber during a sitting. Afterwards, they unlocked a canister of smoke, but the parliamentarians eventually overwhelmed them. They’ve been taken into custody.

Opposition party lawmakers have blasted the administration for the security lapse and are calling for a statement from Shah. Additionally, they want to take legal action against BJP MP Pratap Simha, whose endorsement allowed the two of them to enter the Lok Sabha.
