Shaheed Bhagat Singh Jayanti 2024: Every year on September 28, a day is observed to honor the sacrifices and heroism of this young freedom warrior who devoted his life for India’s liberation.

The renowned revolutionary, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, continues to inspire and drive the youth of independent India today. Born on September 28, 1907, in Banga, Punjab, Bhagat Singh was nurtured in a Sikh family with a strong sense of loyalty. His birth anniversary is widely recognized around the country.

Bhagat Singh, driven by a fiery temperament and a deep passion for liberation, dedicated his life to battling British colonial control. On March 23, 1931, the British government convicted him to death in the Lahore Conspiracy Case, despite his young age of 23. His passion to India’s independence was sparked at the age of 12 when he witnessed the Jallianwala Bagh slaughter, prompting him to swear to free the country from British rule.

Bhagat Singh, a member of the Hindustan Republican Association, was unwavering in his goal of freedom. His father, Kishen Singh, once paid a significant Rs 60,000 for his release, but Bhagat Singh valued his love for the country over his own safety, even fleeing home to join the independence war.

Bhagat Singh and his fellow revolutionaries sought retribution when Lala Lajpat Rai was brutally beaten and killed. They targeted John P. Saunders, a police officer responsible for Lala’s death, mistaking him for James A. Scott.

Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, and Rajguru were executed in secret on March 23, 1931, prior to their scheduled trial on March 24. Their deaths reverberated across the country, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of the people. Bhagat Singh’s sacrifice and resilience continue to inspire future generations, reminding them to stand up against injustice.

Bhagat Singh, a strong supporter of socialism, envisioned a future in which income and resources were shared evenly. He was also attracted to anarchist and Marxist ideals.
