In the midst of current unrest in Bangladesh, the Indian Foreign Ministry has stated a commitment to protecting Bangladeshi residents’ interests. The Indian Foreign Ministry stated that the interests of Bangladeshi citizens are our top priority. The Foreign Ministry stated that we aspire for the restoration of law and order in Bangladesh. According to the Foreign Ministry, news of violence in Bangladesh are still emerging.
Talks are in underway with the Bangladesh government.
Regarding the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal stated, “The Foreign Minister has taken suo motu cognizance of this.” We are gathering information on the state of minorities in Bangladesh. We have also learned that some communities in Bangladesh are assisting minorities. We welcome these initiatives, but we also believe that law and order must be restored in Bangladesh. We want to be clear that it is the government’s responsibility to safeguard the safety of all citizens. This is critical for defending the interests of both countries.
“Bangladesh’s situation is getting worse again.”
Regarding the latest situation in Bangladesh, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal stated, “The situation is deteriorating again there.” I’ve learned that the temporary government will be sworn in in Bangladesh this evening. Our ambassador will also take part in the swearing-in event on behalf of India. When all of these things are completed, it will be clear that the safety of Bangladeshi citizens is the highest concern for the Government of India and the people of India.

UK Foreign Minister David Lammy and Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S Jaishankar discussed the situation in Bangladesh. What was mentioned about offering Sheikh Hasina political asylum?
On the question of offering political shelter to former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Randhir Jaiswal stated, “Our Foreign Minister has already notified Sheikh Hasina that she will be coming to India in a short period of time. The situation in Bangladesh is still violent.”
4th FOC conducted between India and Zambia
The fourth Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and Zambia were held in Lusaka on August 8, 2024. The representatives from the two countries discussed bilateral cooperation, training and capacity building, higher education, and trade. Cooperation in military, health, agriculture, natural resources, small and medium-sized businesses, and cultural exchange were also highlighted. Both sides expressed satisfaction with their current bilateral relations.
