A diplomatic source told RIA that PM Modi plans to travel to Russia in July. Additionally, the source confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet.
According to Reuters on Tuesday, which cited Russian news agency RIA, arrangements have begun for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s forthcoming visit to Moscow between India and Russia.
A diplomatic source told RIA that PM Modi is expected to travel to Russia in July. In March of last year, the Kremlin had declared that Modi had been invited to Russia. The insider confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Modi are to meet.
In May of this year, Putin took the oath of office as President of Russia for the fifth time in a row. On June 9, Modi took office in as India’s prime minister for the third time in a row. The Russian President had earlier congratulated Prime Minister Modi in a statement on the BJP’s victory in the general elections.
Russia’s actions in Ukraine has not been publicly challenged by India, despite the country’s creating strategic and security connections to the US and other key Western nations. Despite early US pressure, India grew its purchases of Russian crude oil. Furthermore, India said that taking this action was necessary to meet its own energy needs. To put a stop to hostilities and find a long-term solution to the Ukraine crisis, India has, nevertheless, continuously argued for going back to the diplomatic and debate route.
