North Kashmir’s terrorism is set to be revived by the neighbouring Pakistani nation. This region saw a rise in terror between 2005 and 2015. Security services claim that while there are still more international terrorists of Pakistani descent than domestic terrorists, they are being killed.

For the Amarnath Yatra, paramilitary personnel started to be deployed in Jammu and Kashmir. For the first time, paramilitary personnel are being deployed in areas where there may be a chance of an adverse incident besides to the Amarnath Yatra route, pilgrims’ accommodation locations, langars, and other locations.

About fifteen thousand security guards, comprising police and paramilitary groups, are stationed throughout the Jammu district in various locations. Compared to last year, 20% more security guards are being sent out this year. According to SSP Jammu Vinod Kumar, there are enough security forces in place to ensure the safety of the Yatra. There will be extra security in a few selected areas of risk.
