Informing reporters about the Bangladeshi prime minister’s visit, Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra stated during a press conference that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was formally welcomed this morning in Rashtrapati Bhavan’s courtyard before paying her respects at Rajghat to Mahatma Gandhi. After lengthy discussions at Hyderabad House, Prime Ministers Modi and Sheikh Hasina ended their meeting.

The current visit of Bangladesh’s prime minister to India, according to Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, is an important aspect of the two nations’ ongoing high-level political interaction. Following the election of the 18th Lok Sabha earlier this month, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh was among the foreign leaders present at the swearing-in ceremony of the Union Council of Ministers on June 9. Following her final formal visit to India in September 2022, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived as a guest to take part in the G-20.

The two parties exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on space technology, according to Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, with the goal of forging cooperation for the launch of a jointly constructed small satellite for Bangladesh on India’s launch vehicle. There was talk between the two leaders about cooperation in defense. He went on to say that one of the main tenets of the partnership between Bangladesh and India is connectivity. A brand-new passenger train service between Kolkata and Rajshahi is about about to start. We want to launch a second bus route between Chittagong and Kolkata at the same time.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier stated in his speech that the medical visa from Bangladesh to India will soon fall under the category of e-medical visas, offering an abundance of ease to people who take benefit of this scheme.
