Dinesh Karthik, a senior batsman for Team India, has declared his retirement from international cricket. The seasoned athlete made the disclosure on social media on Saturday. He posted an emotional message appreciating the coach and supporters. He is celebrating reaching 39 years old today. He left the IPL years ago. This season, he played his final game of football.

Dinesh Karthik, the veteran wicketkeeper batsman for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), played his final IPL 2024 match on May 22 against the Rajasthan Royals. The Bangalore players rewarded him with a guard of honor. Virat Kohli and other players sent him hugs and well wishes for the future. He has a strike rate of 187.35 and has scored 174 runs in 15 games this season. He hit two half-centuries off his bat at this time.

Dinesh Karthik’s second IPL stint with RCB was this one, to be precise. Bangalore acquired him for Rs 10.5 crore in 2015. He did not play very well with the bat during this. In 11 games, he was only able to score 141 runs. But he emerged last season and proved to be an excellent finisher. Dinesh Karthik qualifies for the ODI World Cup squad after making 330 runs at a strike rate of over 180 in the IPL 2022. He has represented Kolkata in the IPL as well.
With 4842 runs in 257 matches, including 22 half-centuries, Karthik concluded his IPL career. During his 17-year defined IPL career, he played for the Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, etc.

Karthik was named in the 2007 World Cup roster, however he did not make it into the starting eleven of a single game. Karthik made his debut for the nation three months before Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He was a member of the squad that year as Dhoni’s backup. After that, he was unable to make the World Cup squads in 2011 and 2015, so he was not able to participate in the event. Nonetheless, he was a member of the team that played in the 2023 ODI World Cup as a finisher. He was unable to do miracles with his bat, though. Karthik has been in and out of the team over his fifteen-year cricket career. Karthik completed 26 Test matches with 1025 runs.
