The Ministry of Energy reports that 237.94 GW of electricity were given nationwide on Tuesday. The biggest daily need for power occurred in September of last year at 243.27 GW, a record that has since been exceeded.
In India, the need for power grows along with the country’s increasing temperatures. Many people are utilizing air conditioners, fans, and coolers to escape the heat. As a result, the country’s daily demand for electricity has increased to its highest point. The nation’s daily demand for power has risen to a peak of 246.06 gigawatts, according to the Ministry of Energy. The country’s power grid reached a record-breaking 246.06 gigawatts on Wednesday—the biggest quantity this year during the summer.
The Power Ministry reports that on Tuesday, the nation’s electricity supply was 237.94 gigawatt. The highest daily demand for power was measured in September of last year at 243.27 gigawatts, a record that has since been surpassed. It is expected that in June, this demand will rise even further and perhaps set a new record. This year, the greatest demand for power was recorded on May 24 at 239.96 Gigawatt, whereas on May 23 it was reported at 236.59 Gigawatt.
On Thursday, Delhi’s lowest temperature was recorded at 30.4 degrees Celsius. In particular places, the Meteorological Department has also forecast light rain and thunderstorms during the evening. The Safdarjung Meteorological Center in Delhi stated a maximum temperature of 46.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the highest in the previous 79 years. Prior to this, on June 17, 1945, a temperature of 46.7 degrees Celsius was noted. The Ministry of Energy’s estimate of the demand for power is not met.
The Ministry of Energy predicted earlier this month that the nation’s maximum electrical usage in May might be as high as 235 GW during the day and 225 GW at night. The Ministry of Energy forecast that in June, the demand for power would be 240 GW during the day and 235 GW at night. However, in May alone, the demand for electricity exceeded these forecasts, reaching 246 GW. According to estimates made by the Ministry of Energy, there could be as much as 260 GW of electricity utilized throughout the summer this year.
This year, the nation’s daily electricity supply in April was 224.18 GW, up from 221.82 GW in March, 222.16 GW in February, and 223.51 GW in January. The Meteorological Department predicted in March of this year that India would see more heatwave days and extreme heat this year. This was attributed to the El Nino impact, which is projected to continue until May.
