According to locals, the wedding procession in three Scorpios was traveling from Goriya Tola of Dhapadi Mod Gobadda Panchayat of Kharagpur police station area of Munger to Shrimatpur village of Pirpainti. The Scorpio carried 11 people, including the driver. The train was approaching from the opposite direction (from Kahalgaon) near Amapur of the Ghogha police station area, along a ballast-laden highway. At the time of the occurrence, road construction was in progress. As a result, one side of the road was three or four feet taller than the other. During this time, while crossing the highway, it lost control and overturned onto the wedding vehicle. At the moment, two additional Scorpios were following that one. As soon as the collision occurred, both Scorpios managed to escape by moving back and forth; otherwise, the death toll could have risen further. When the commotion was heard, people gathered nearby, and miraculously everyone was rescued from the wreckage and transported to the hospital.
