The Chinese ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, has denounced the US government’s attempt to prohibit the app, alleging that it will harm American firms and the country’s economy.

A bill that would force TikTok, a popular social media video platform owned by China’s ByteDance, to separate from its owner or risk being barred nationwide is set for a vote in the US House of Representatives. TikTok presents a threat to US national security, which is the reason for the ban threat. This bill enjoys a lot of support among both Democrats and Republicans, a rare indication of its popularity across the political spectrum in the US. Concerned about TikTok’s rising profile, numerous officials have claimed that the social network is influenced by China and is used by the Chinese Communist Party for propaganda.

TikTok said.

A ByteDance representative opposed the law, arguing that it could harm both free expression and the US economy. He stated that the loss would impact “… 7 million businesses, and collapse a platform that provides $24 billion to the US economy annually” in respect to the effect on the US economy.

According to the proposed bill, ByteDance was supposed to sell TikTok in just a couple of months. If the measure is approved, violating this order could result in consequences, such as deletion from the US Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Chinese and US President had a disagreement.

President Joe Biden recently voiced his concerns about TikTok in a phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, illustrating just how deeply this idea of banning the app has ingrained itself in the US elite.

Additionally, the move has been added to the aid package for Taiwan, Israel, and Ukraine to ensure its success. It seems likely that this will pass both US House chambers.
