AI is still a source of contention on social media, having sparked a big deepfake video frenzy. Several female celebrities have fallen victim to the edited videos. Alia Bhatt joins Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif, Kajol, and other celebrities as the latest victim of deepfake videos.
An obscene video of an actor dressed in a floral short co-ord set making ‘dirty’ motions for the camera is making the rounds on the internet. The footage appears to have been edited. For obvious reasons, India TV does not share the footage.
Rashmika Mandanna was the first female celebrity to fall victim to deepfake videos. Several celebrities, including megastar Amitabh Bachchan, criticized the act and urged harsh punishment for those responsible.
Deepfake: The Government Acts
Meanwhile, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar announced that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) will create a portal for individuals to report IT rule infractions by social media platforms.
“Meity will establish a platform through which aggrieved individuals can easily notify the ministry about violations.” “The ministry will also design a mechanism to assist them in filing FIRs,” he said. For the uninitiated, Section 7 of the IT rules deals with withdrawing social media sites’ intermediary status and pursuing action against them under the Indian Penal Code if they fail to follow the guidelines.
this is a reasoned argument you got there!
