Renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar, who is recognized for his progressive and liberal ideas, praised the Hindu population, stating that “Hindu culture and tradition are the reason why democracy exists in India.” The poet said this during a Deepotsav event in Mumbai that Raj Thackeray, the leader of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), had organized.
