On Friday, TV actor Sheezan Khan’s request to have the FIR against him quashed was denied by the Bombay High Court. Sheezan was arrested for reportedly encouraging his co-star Tunisha Sharma to commit suicide on television. The bench of Justices Ajey Gadkari and Sharmila Deshmukh rejected his plea on Friday. In December of last year, Tunisha Sharma was discovered deceased in the restroom on the outskirts of Mumbai, where she was filming a Hindi television program. The day after Tunisha’s death, Sheezan was taken into custody by the Waliv police.
“Enter into a relationship and break up are normal facets of life, and if two persons in such a relationship terminate, then the mere fact that the other person commits suicide does not justify the offence registered under IPC section 306 (abetment of suicide) with its consequences of arrest and custody,” Sheezan’s attorney, Sharad Rai, argued in court, according to an Indian Express report.
The police, however, rejected his request, claiming that Tunisha appeared “extremely disturbed” when Sheezan left the room despite her appearing OK in the CCTV tape.
“Victim of several allegations being spread in media by persons who do not wish well for him, and want him to take the fall for what is otherwise a plain suicide case,” Sheezan asserted.
Sheezan Khan and Tunisha Sharma collaborated on Alibaba: Dastaan-E-Kabul, a Sony SAB project.
