The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the actors Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon, winners of the National Film Awards in the Best Actor (Female) category, with their awards at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. For her role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia was named the winner, while Kriti received recognition for her work in Mimi.
Audience members applauded Alia as she accepted the award, including her actor husband Ranbir Kapoor. The pair arrived looking stunning in their traditional attire. Ranbir showed up in a black bandhgala, while Alia was dressed in a white sari.
Kriti Sanon attended the National Film Awards ceremony with her family in tow, looking stunning in a stunning sari. When she approached the stage, she exuded happiness at being granted this accolade.
Kriti had already posted on social media to share her joy at winning her first National Film Award. “Elated, overwhelmed, and grateful,” she wrote. I’m still processing it, pinching myself to believe that this truly happened! Mimi wins the Best Actress National Award! I express my gratitude to the panel for deeming my performance deserving of the highest honour! To me, it’s everything!
She went on, “Dinoo, I owe you so much for providing me a movie I will always cherish, for always supporting me, and for believing in me and my ability! Laxman, please. You used to tell me, “Mimi, this movie is going to win a national award soon.” Greetings, sir! And without you, I could not have completed this. Dad, Mom, and Nups. You people are my only hope! I appreciate you being my never-ending supporters.
Kriti Sanon went to the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai and gave prayers once it was revealed that she had won. In the meantime, Alia also sent a thank-you card to the audience, the crew, her family, and Gangubai Kathiawadi director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Alia wrote, “To Sanjay Sir..To the entire crew..To my family..To my team & last but most definitely not the least — To my audience.. ♥️ This national award is yours .. because without you ALL none of this would be possible.. seriously!!! Alia Bhatt portrayed Gangubai, a highly influential, adored, and esteemed madam from Kamathipura in the 1960s film Gangubai Kathiawadi. Ajay Devgn, Jim Sarbh, Seema Pahwa, Indira Tiwari, Vijay Raaz, and Shantanu Maheshwari also starred in the movie.
