6 October 2023 ( New Delhi ) : A seven-story building in Mumbai’s Goregaon caught fire, leaving seven people dead and more than 40 injured.
According to a statement from the Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the fire broke out at the Jay Bhavani building in Goregaon West’s Azad Nagar neighborhood at 3 am. Two hospitals in Mumbai, HBT Hospital and Cooper Hospital, received the injured.

Two of the seven fatalities from the fire were children. Twelve men and 28 women, including one minor, made up the 40 injured people.”I was saddened to learn that there had been fatalities in the Mumbai fire event at Goregaon. We are in contact with BMC and Mumbai Police representatives, and every help is being given. Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, tweeted on X, “My sincere condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow after learning of the tragic tragedy and pledged a donation of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF. “Saddened by the deaths caused by a fire accident in Mumbai’s Goregaon. Condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish those who were hurt a speedy recovery. Authorities are helping individuals affected in whatever way they can, according to a post on X by PMO.

The next of kin of each deceased person would receive an ex-gratia payment from PMNRF of Rs. 2 lakh. The hurt parties would receive Rs. 50,000, it continued. Ten fire fighters arrived at the scene to put out the fire. Nearly four hours after the fire erupted, at around seven in the morning, it was put out. Seven deaths have reportedly been confirmed thus far among a total of 51 injured people, according to reports. While 35 individuals are receiving treatment and four of the injured people have been released from the hospital, five people are in a serious condition.

Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, expressed sorrow over the fire incident and reaffirmed that the state government is offering all necessary support. “I was saddened to learn that there had been fatalities in the Mumbai fire event at Goregaon. Officials from the BMC and Mumbai Police are in contact with us, and all support is being given. My sincere condolences go out to the families who lost loved ones, and I wish the injured people a quick recovery, he stated in a post on X.

According to fire officials, the fire entirely destroyed the stores and two-wheelers on the ground level and covered the structure from all sides. Officials have stated that Civic Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal will soon visit the hospitals where the injured are being treated.
