The Washington Post said that the attackers fired about 50 bullets, and it also included reports from Sikh community members who were in the area at the time of the attack.

The Washington Post stated, citing an examination of camera footage, that on June 18, Khalistani fanatic Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed in a planned attack by at least six men who arrived in two vehicles outside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Canada’s British Columbia. The attack was carried out by two individuals wearing hooded sweatshirts, according to the report, which also included eyewitness testimony from Sikh community members who were in the area. Of the approximately 50 bullets fired, 34 struck Nijjar.

After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made incendiary claims about the “potential” participation of Indian spies in the 45-year-old Nijjar’s murder, tensions between India and Canada erupted. In 2020, India deemed Nijjar to be a terrorist. As a tit-for-tat response to Ottawa’s expulsion of an Indian official over the matter, India has categorically dismissed the claims as “absurd” and “motivated” and removed a senior Canadian ambassador.

What does a story from The Washington Post say about the murder of Hardeep Nijjar?

According to The Washington Post, the incident’s inquiry “suggests a larger and more organized operation than has been reported.”

According to The Post, footage of Nijjar’s murder was recorded by a gurdwara surveillance camera and given to investigators.

According to the report, which included information of the event, the 90-second video depicts Nijjar’s grey pickup truck leaving a parking space. Then, parallel to the vehicle in a nearby parking lot, a white automobile pulls up. “A boardwalk initially divides the vehicles. The sedan keeps up with the truck’s increased speed. The truck then moves into the sedan’s lane, and for a brief period of time, they are side by side, according to the report.

Then, as they approach the truck, two men in hooded sweatshirts can be seen on the footage “each pointing a weapon at the driver’s seat. The vehicle pulls out of the parking lot and disappears from view. The two men then proceed to run together.

Bhupinderjit Singh, a gurdwara volunteer who was the first eyewitness to arrive at Nijjar’s truck, was also included in the report. Singh took hold of Nijjar’s shoulders after opening the driver’s side door. Singh was cited as stating, “The gurdwara leader did not seem to be breathing.”

Malkit Singh, a different member of the Gurdwara Committee, informed the media that he spotted two hooded guys going in the direction of Cougar Creek Park across the street. Through the park, he pursued them. He stated that they were dressed in “a Sikh get-up,” with masks covering their “bearded faces” and hoodies pulled over little pughs on their heads. Malkit was cited as adding that they entered a waiting silver automobile in which three other males were also waiting.

The first police officers arrived at the scene between 12 and 20 minutes after the gunfire, according to witnesses who spoke to The Post.

The witnesses claimed that the authorities haven’t given them much information on their investigation into the incident on June 18. They stated that police took a while to get at the scene and that squabbles between agencies led to additional delays.NYT report on US intelligence regarding the murder of Nijjar

NYT report on US intelligence regarding the murder of Nijjar

Days before to The Washington Post’s article, The New York Times alleged that the US had given Canada intelligence following the murder of Nijjar; nevertheless, communications intercepted by Ottawa were more conclusive and led it to suspect India of masterminding the plot. The top US diplomat in Canada stated on Saturday that there was “shared intelligence among Five Eyes partners” that had led to Trudeau’s provocative charge against India. The NYT piece, which identified sources, was released at the same time.

In 2020, India declared Nijjar, the leader of the outlawed Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), a terrorist.

India has been requested by the United States to assist Canada in its inquiries.
