In a video, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of Sikh for Justice, a pro-Khalistan organization, is heard telling Canadian Hindus to “go back to India.”
Top federal public safety authorities and lawmakers have condemned the “online hate video” and said that Hindus are “safe and welcome,” days after an unpleasant film from a pro-Khalistan group threatening Hindus in Canada to leave the country went viral.
In contrast, neither the government agency nor the politicians specifically mentioned the video, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) reported.
Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions, and Intergovernmental Affairs for Canada Dominic LeBlanc stated that the “circulation of an online hate video targeting Hindu Canadians runs contrary to the values we hold dear as Canadians.” (Live India-Canada News)
In a post on X, LeBlanc stated, “There is no place for acts of aggression, hate, intimidation, or incitement of fear.”
In the video, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a lawyer based in New York and member of the pro-Khalistan organization Sikh for Justice, is heard directly telling Hindus in Canada to “go back to India.”
According to the report from the nation’s official broadcaster, even the official Safety Department of Canada referred to the film as “offensive and hateful.”
