In nations including the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, medical graduates from India can now practice or continue their education after graduation.

With the National Medical Commission (NMC) receiving the coveted World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) recognition status, Indian medical graduates will now be eligible to practice or pursue post-graduation in nations like the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

According to the health ministry, all 706 of the medical colleges that are currently governed by the NMC will be WFME accredited going forward, and any new colleges that are established during the next ten years will also receive automatic WFME accreditation.

According to Dr. Yogender Malik, a member of the Ethics and Medical Registration Board of the NMC, “this honor empowers our students with the opportunity to pursue their careers anywhere in the world, while also making India an attractive destination for international students due to our globally-recognized standards.”

An formal award letter and a recognition certificate will be given to the NMC as part of the acknowledgment.

“By connecting them with international best practices and benchmarks, the WFME accreditation would improve the quality and standards of medical education in India. According to the ministry, the certification will allow Indian medical graduates to pursue postgraduate education and practice in other nations that need WFME recognition, such as the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Officials claim that this will strengthen the repute and recognition of Indian medical schools and practitioners abroad and encourage academic exchanges and partnerships.

Additionally, it will support innovation and ongoing development in medical education while fostering a culture of quality assurance among institutions and medical educators.

A global organization called the WFME is committed to raising the standard of medical education everywhere.

According to Malik, the honorable distinction is evidence of the NMC’s ongoing dedication to the highest standards in medical education and accreditation.

The WFME’s recognition confirms that medical education in India meets the highest standards, he continued.
