The legendary showdown between the two neighboring teams will go place on October 15, according to the original timetable.
Team India will face archrivals Pakistan in the premier ODI World Cup later this year on October 15. The International Cricket Council (ICC) may have already finalized and made public the schedule last month, but there could be a significant change in the date for one of the tournament’s most memorable clashes this year. According to an Indian Express story, the date of the India-Pakistan match could be modified since October 15 is the first day of ‘Navratri,’ a holiday celebrated with night-long Garba dances, mainly in Gujarat.
According to the report, agencies asked the BCCI to reschedule the game because to security concerns. “We are considering our options and will make a decision soon.” “We’ve been told by security that a high-profile game like India vs. Pakistan, for which thousands of traveling fans are expected to arrive in Ahmedabad, should be avoided because they’ll be stretched due to Navratri,” a source told the Indian Express.
If the game is rescheduled, it could be a huge logistical nightmare; many fans have already finalised travel plans on dates surrounding the India-Pakistan clash, and reports from local media have also suggested that Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) have enquired about bed availability before and after the night game.
As a result, rescheduling is expected to result in a large number of hotel cancellations. Interestingly, with just over two months until the tournament’s start (also planned in Ahmedabad between England and New Zealand), there has been no update on ticket sales, adding to supporters’ discontent. With the potential of rescheduling the largest game of the group stage, BCCI should brace itself for criticism from fans on social media platforms.;
According to the Indian Express report, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has summoned members of all hosting venues to assemble in New Delhi on July 27 (Thursday) for a conference where a decision on the India-Pakistan encounter could be made.
“I believe it will be in the best interests of all concerned if we meet again to exchange notes and assess any issues that require discussion and decision.” As a result, you are hereby invited to a meeting of the World Cup hosting associations,” the letter stated.
The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host four World Cup group games, including the competition final on November 19.
