The 57-year-old officer was on leave from his position as an ACP in Pune and had returned to Amaravati’s Rajapeth Police station.
At his residence in Pune city on Monday, an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) allegedly shot his wife and nephew to death before committing himself, according to officials.
According to authorities, the 57-year-old officer was assigned as an ACP at Amaravati’s Rajapeth authorities Station jurisdiction and had returned home in Pune on leave.
The cause of the event was unknown, according to a Chaturshringi police station employee.
According to Pune police, the officer’s family lived in the city’s Baner district.
On Saturday morning, he came to Pune to spend the weekend with his family.
He allegedly killed his wife and nephew with his licensed revolver at 3:30 a.m.
Police believe he later committed suicide.
“His son and nephew rushed to the door after the ACP allegedly first shot his wife. He allegedly shot at his nephew as soon as they opened the door, striking him in the chest, according to a police officer.
The official reported that “all three people died immediately.”
The police officer’s wife, age 44, and nephew, age 35, were identified as the other two fatalities.
