West Bengal is a river state situated on the Bay of Bengal coast, according to remarks made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday. We suffer a variety of natural disasters each year. Remal has caused an enormous amount of harm to our state. For us, people’s lives are most important. The loss is relatively small because of the fast administration and clear instructions.
A day earlier, Cyclone Remal made impact in West Bengal’s coastal regions. After 21 hours, flight services at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport were restored; however, eight aircraft had to be diverted and 14 flights were forced to cancel owing to inclement weather. 5 people died as a result of the storm at the same time.
Eight aircraft to Kolkata had to be rerouted to other airports, including Guwahati, Gaya, Varanasi, and Bhubaneswar, according to an AAI representative, due to inclement weather. The natural tragedy didn’t cause any harm to infrastructure, according to C Pattabhi, Director of Kolkata Airport. Since we removed water using effective pumps, there was no issue with waterlogging. Simultaneously, a high-ranking official at the renowned Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati confirmed the cancellation of fourteen flights from Guwahati to Kolkata. Four flights on Indigo, four on Alliance Air, and one on Air India are among the canceled flights. Eleven flights from Agartala Airport were canceled at the same time because to inclement weather. Manik Saha, the chief minister, advised caution.
