Karan Johar, a filmmaker, recently shared his story about his early trauma and his attempts to blend in and be ‘cool.’ Johar talked about his time in boarding school and how he was exhausted on his first day in a recent interview with Nikhil Taneja.

Johar claimed that he created his fictitious Madonna symbol solely to fit in with his peers. He found comfort in food, the director added. He was the ‘ladoo’ in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, unable to tie his shoelaces because his tummy got in the way. “I was ridiculously spoiled and food was my solace, my best friend,” he stated.

Karan Johar claims he was ridiculed.
Karan Johar talked more about being made fun of and made the subject of jokes. He revealed that he wanted to transfer to a different school in a different city since he felt that the world was “caving” in on him. “Why do you wish to go to a boarding school, my parents asked? This place really protects you. Will you be capable of handling,” he continued.

Johar went on to say that he was ready to move on and say goodbye to everyone. He departed for Panchgani, the location of Aamir Khan and Darsheel Safary’s film, his boarding school. Recalling his first day at the boarding school, Johar talked about the first person he encountered who gave him strange looks and made him realise that he was away from his parents.

Speaking about being ragged, Karan Johar claimed that his superiors realized he was “vulnerable” and took him to the restroom to lock him in. He added that he sobbed aloud in the middle of the gathering, and the Principal responded. His father, Yash Johar, met him at the school after the incident. “I cried and said Papa take me home, I won’t eat,” Johar claimed. In addition, he said that, like Darsheel Safary in Taare Zameen Par, he ran to his father.
