Sikkim is under an orange alert, and following states are being warned of heavy rain.

Sikkim, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and a few more states have been placed on alert for Thursday’s weather by the IMD.

Disaster-hit The local weather service has issued an orange notice for Sikkim for Thursday, warning residents to remain vigilant in the wake of expected heavy rain in numerous locations. According to a bulletin sent on Wednesday by the Gangtok Meteorological Centre, “heavy to very heavy rain” is expected to fall in isolated locations throughout the day in all districts, including Gangtok, Geyzing, Mangan, Namchi, Pakyong, and Soreng.

West Bengal and other states’ rain alert updates :

West Bengal, which has been placed on red alert due to the emergence of a low-pressure region in south Jharkhand and neighboring districts, also received a heavy rain alert. According to the regional MeT office, “Enhanced rainfall activity is likely to continue over West Bengal districts during the 4th to 6th October,” adding that the activity is likely to diminish starting on Friday afternoon. While Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Malda, and Dakshin Dinajpur remain under red alert in north Bengal, Puruliya, Bankura, 24 North Parganas, Kolkata, and other districts in south Bengal are under orange alert on Thursday.

The majority of Bihar’s eastern districts will stay under a yellow alert on Thursday throughout the day, according to the Patna weather office, as heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning are forecast. For western districts, such as Siwan, Bhojpur, Champaran, and Aurangabad, no warning was given.

According to the Ranchi weather office, a warning sent out on Wednesday has placed all of Jharkhand’s districts on yellow alert until Friday.

Meanwhile, extremely heavy rain is expected to fall until Friday in some areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya. The India Meteorological Department issued a warning and urged the general public to avoid waterlogged areas and weak structures. “On October 5, there may be a few isolated areas of heavy to very heavy rain, with amounts between 115.6 and 204.4 mm. Stay safe!” stated a tweet that was published on X (formerly Twitter).

For the next five days, no serious weather alerts have been issued for central, southern peninsula, northwest, or western India.
