From the United States to Europe, Asia to Africa, Indian yoga teachers are increasingly in demand, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s visionary initiative to promote yoga globally is now bearing remarkable fruit\u2014both culturally and economically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Vision That Redefined Global Wellness<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
It all began when Prime Minister Modi, during his address at the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly<\/strong>, proposed the idea of International Yoga Day. The resolution saw unprecedented support from all 193 UN member states, leading to the declaration of June 21<\/strong> as International Yoga Day. The first global celebration was held in 2015, and since then, the world\u2019s interest in yoga has grown exponentially.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This surge has opened international doors for Indian yoga instructors, turning them into global ambassadors of wellness. The Rise of IFYP and the \u2018Dollar Rain\u2019 on Indian Yoga Trainers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
A key driver in this movement is the International Federation of Yoga Professionals (IFYP)<\/strong>, founded by Sadanand, an engineer from GAIL (Gas Authority of India Ltd.) in Uttar Pradesh\u2019s Auraiya district. Inspired by his mother\u2019s struggle with arthritis in 2003, Sadanand started gathering people with basic yoga knowledge and organizing small workshops. Swati Kumari, an IFYP-trained yoga teacher, is preparing to fly to Atlanta, USA<\/strong>, to begin her teaching journey. \u201cYoga was just physical exercise for me initially,\u201d she recalls. \u201cBut as I explored deeper, I understood its philosophical dimensions\u2014through Patanjali\u2019s Sutras, Sankhya philosophy, and meditation practices.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Swati has led yoga camps, conducted workshops, and worked with corporate groups and schools. Indian Government\u2019s Support: ICCR and MEA Play a Crucial Role<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Most Indian yoga teachers sent abroad are facilitated through ICCR and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA)<\/strong>. Teachers undergo a rigorous selection process that includes interviews and qualification verification. Proficiency in English and Sanskrit<\/strong> is a significant advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With over 38,000 yoga professionals<\/strong> trained or associated with IFYP to date, the goal is now to place at least one yoga teacher in every Indian village, city, school, and corporate office<\/strong>. Sadanand emphasizes the holistic health benefits of yoga, particularly its impact on mental well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not just training teachers\u2014we\u2019re building a global movement,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd today, students, doctors, professors, and even MNC professionals are joining us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IFYP has partnerships across states like Punjab, UP, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala<\/strong>, placing yoga instructors in hospitals, schools, and corporates. It also regularly collaborates with central government ministries to conduct wellness programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
