Updates on the rain in Mumbai: Heavy rain in the city produced floods, train track interruptions, and traffic delays. The Meteorological Department issued a’red’ alert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, heavy rainfall in Mumbai caused floods in low-lying areas, stopped local train services, and delayed traffic in several regions due to flooding. The Weather Underground has issued a’red’ signal, indicating severe to very heavy rain in a few locations and extremely heavy rain in isolated areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mumbai Centre of the India Meteorological Department predicted continuous heavy to very heavy rainfall in the city and urban areas, with a possibility of extremely high rainfall in isolated areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IMD predicts that active monsoon conditions will remain over parts of Konkan and nearby ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra over the next 2-3 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • According to the Western Railway, commuters noticed waterlogging on tracks between Churchgate and Marine Lines stations, although train services were unaffected.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • On Thursday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) declared a holiday for all public and private schools and institutions in the city. “The BMC requests that all citizens remain alert, stay indoors, and kindly follow instructions from the administration,” Mumbai civic commissioner and administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal said on Wednesday night. According to the IMD Mumbai, the Colaba observatory (representing the island city) recorded “extremely heavy” rainfall of 223.2 mm in the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 a.m. on Thursday, while the Santacruz observatory (representing the suburbs) recorded 145.1 mm rainfall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
