The father, a daily wage laborer, had informed the media that \u20b92,500 had been sought as a bribe by hospital officials in order to have his baby cremated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A government hospital employee in Chennai has been suspended after delivering a stillborn baby to parents in a cardboard box.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cyclone Michaung hit the city on December 4, wreaking significant destruction and stranding numerous neighborhoods for at least four days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, Sowmy, 20, delivered a premature baby as a stillbirth in her home on December 6 and took her to the hospital around 5 p.m. The baby’s death was confirmed by a pediatrician, and the mother is currently being treated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 10, the baby’s body was delivered in a carton to her father, Mansoor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This is against the rules,” the hospital declared on December 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

M Subramanian, Tamil Nadu’s health minister, ordered the suspension of one mortuary employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The father, a daily wage laborer, had previously informed the media that the medical personnel had wanted a bribe of $2,500 for his baby’s cremation, which he couldn’t pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He had also struggled to find an ambulance to take his wife to the hospital during the floods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
