Mumbai: Popular model and actress Shefali Jariwala, best known for her appearance in the hit 2002 remix song ‘Kaanta Laga’, passed away on the night of June 27 due to an alleged heart attack. She was 42 years old. Her sudden death has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry and among her fans across the country.
Police and Forensic Team Conduct Investigation at Residence
According to sources from Amar Ujala, the Mumbai police and forensic team reached Shefali’s residence in the Golden Rays Building, Shastrinagar, Lokhandwala, around 1 AM. They were seen leaving the building later with a forensic evidence bag, believed to contain copies of her medical reports and other materials relevant to the investigation.
Police have questioned Shefali’s cook, maid, and building security guard, and also obtained photographs of the entry register to determine whether any unusual visitor accessed the premises before the incident.
Statement of Husband Parag Tyagi Recorded
Police officials have confirmed that Parag Tyagi, Shefali’s husband and television actor, has been questioned. His statement was recorded at their home. As of now, the police have taken statements from at least four individuals associated with the case.
Shefali Was Declared Dead at Hospital
As per the police report, Shefali experienced chest pain around 11 PM on June 27. Parag Tyagi rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she was declared brought dead upon arrival. The family informed the police, who arrived shortly after midnight.
Currently, a post-mortem examination is underway at Cooper Hospital. Authorities say the exact cause of death will be known only after the autopsy report is released.
Parag Seen Walking Pet Hours After Her Death
In a surprising development, paparazzi captured Parag Tyagi walking their pet dog early Saturday morning. He did not respond to media questions and appeared visibly disturbed. Security personnel of the building confirmed that the couple would regularly take their dog out together each morning. In fact, both were seen walking together on the morning of June 27.
Security Guard Confirms Timeline
The building’s security guard shared that Shefali was taken to the hospital around 10:30 PM, when Parag requested the gate be opened. He further revealed that the news of her death came around 1 AM.
Industry Colleagues Pay Tributes
Celebrities from the entertainment industry expressed their grief over the actress’s sudden demise:
- Singer Rahul Vaidya posted on Instagram: “Rest in peace, Shefali. You left us too soon.
- Actor Aly Goni also mourned her passing, sharing a photo and the words “Rest in Peace
- Singer Mika Singh wrote: “I’m shocked and saddened. A beautiful star and a dear friend is no longer with us.
Family Yet to Release Official Statement
So far, Shefali Jariwala’s family has not released an official public statement. Her makeup artist confirmed her passing and stated that it was due to a heart attack.
Ongoing Investigation
Mumbai Police have assured that a thorough investigation is being carried out. Forensic experts are analyzing the collected evidence, and further questioning of all individuals close to the case will continue. The final cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is released later tonight.
