Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attended the centenary celebrations of Jain spiritual leader Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj and addressed the gathering with a powerful and spiritual message. The event, rich with cultural and philosophical reflections, saw a stirring moment when PM Modi said, “Jo humein chhedega…” (“Whoever tries to provoke us…”), prompting an enthusiastic chorus of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” from the audience.

In a gesture of humility, PM Modi accepted the honorary title of “Dharm Chakravarti” bestowed upon him during the ceremony. “I do not consider myself worthy of this title, but as per our tradition, whatever comes from saints is accepted as prasada (sacred offering). I accept it with humility and dedicate it to Bharat Mata.

A Nation of Service and Non-violence

Reflecting on India’s global spiritual influence, PM Modi stated, “While the world tried to end violence with more violence, India introduced the power of non-violence to humanity. We are a nation rooted in service, compassion, and collective progress.

He added, “Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj believed that life becomes truly spiritual only when it is dedicated to service — a principle deeply embedded in Jain philosophy and Indian consciousness.

Promoting Ancient Languages and Culture

PM Modi highlighted his government’s initiatives to revive India’s ancient heritage, particularly the Prakrit language, once used by Lord Mahavira. He emphasized that due to past neglect, this sacred language had faded from daily use. “Thanks to saints like Acharya Vidyanand Maharaj, we made their efforts a national movement and granted Prakrit the status of a ‘Classical Language’ he said.

The Prime Minister also noted efforts to digitize ancient Indian manuscripts and redevelop pilgrimage sites, ensuring that India’s spiritual and cultural heritage is preserved alongside national development.

“In today’s world,” he concluded, “India stands tall because our thoughts are eternal, our philosophy is immortal, and our commitment to humanity is unwavering.
