Panipat, Haryana – In a chilling confession that has sent shockwaves through Haryana, Sunil — a close friend of Haryanvi model Simmi Chaudhary — has admitted to brutally murdering her after she rejected him and decided to marry another man. The accused, during police interrogation, revealed that he had planned the murder in advance and has shown no remorse for his actions.

A Tale of Obsession and Betrayal

According to police sources, 24-year-old Simmi Chaudhary, also known as Sheetal, was a Haryanvi model and had recently found love again after a broken marriage and two children. Her relationship with Sunil, a hotelier from Karnal’s Model Town, reportedly began while working together at a mall, and they became close friends.

Sunil, who runs a hotel named Sukoon, developed feelings for Simmi and proposed marriage. However, Simmi later distanced herself after learning that Sunil was previously married and had two children. She then became involved with another man, Vishal, and even got his name tattooed on her hand — a gesture that reportedly triggered Sunil’s violent intent.

Murder Planned in Advance

Police state that Sunil had premeditated the murder. On June 14, he left home carrying a knife in his car, knowing Simmi was at a music video shoot in Ahar village, Panipat. He offered to drop her home at Satkartar Colony but instead diverted the route to Matlauda.

During the drive, Simmi received a call — allegedly from Vishal — which led to an argument between the two. Once they reached a deserted area, Sunil attacked her with the knife, slashing her neck multiple times. After confirming she was dead, he kept her body in the car and roamed around with it for about 15 kilometers before driving the vehicle into a canal near Panipat in an attempt to make it look like an accident. He then swam out of the canal, leaving the body inside.

No Regret, No Remorse

Shockingly, Sunil has shown no remorse for the murder. He told police that seeing Simmi with someone else was like “a knife to the heart” and he couldn’t tolerate her being with anyone else. “If she wasn’t going to be mine, she wouldn’t be anyone’s,” he reportedly said.

Discovery of the Body

Simmi’s sister Neha, a resident of Satkartar Colony, reported her missing when she didn’t return home on Saturday after the shoot. On Monday, police recovered a young woman’s body from the NCR Water Channel near Khanda village, Sonipat — about 30 hours after the murder. Her throat bore multiple stab wounds, and she was later identified by her family as Simmi Chaudhary.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle Simmi was last seen in, an i20, was found submerged near Virat Nagar Phase-3 in Panipat. Police suspect the intention was to destroy evidence and stage the murder as a tragic road mishap.

Ongoing Investigation and More Arrests Likely

The Panipat police have taken Sunil into two-day remand. Authorities are now investigating whether others may have been involved in the crime. Police have also recovered the murder weapon — the knife used to slit Simmi’s throat — and are analyzing the call records of Sunil, Simmi, and other possible suspects.

DSP Headquarters Satish Kumar confirmed the arrest and added, “The accused was found admitted to a private hospital near GT Road, Siwah. We are looking into all angles including whether it was a lone act or a conspiracy.”

Background: Simmi’s Life and Career

Simmi, who hailed from Panipat, had separated from her husband three years ago and was living with her sister. She had two children from her previous marriage and was trying to rebuild her life through her modeling career. Her murder has not only ended a promising career but also sparked a debate on crimes stemming from toxic relationships and male possessiveness.
