Pathankot, Punjab – February 26, 2025: The Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted an intrusion attempt by a Pakistani national at the International Border (IB) in Pathankot, Punjab, on Wednesday morning. In a swift action, BSF personnel shot and killed one Pakistani infiltrator, preventing a potential security breach.
The incident took place at the Tashpatan Border Post in the early hours of February 26. According to BSF officials, the alert personnel noticed suspicious activity across the border. A man was attempting to infiltrate Indian territory through Pathankot. The BSF soldiers immediately issued warnings to the intruder, urging him to stop. However, the individual continued to advance, ignoring the warnings. Given the escalating situation, and to prevent any further threats, the BSF personnel opened fire, killing the intruder.
The BSF spokesperson stated, At around dawn on February 26, our troops observed suspicious movements at the Tashpatan Border Post, with an individual attempting to cross into Indian territory. Despite repeated warnings, the intruder ignored the commands and proceeded to advance. In response to the threat, the BSF personnel neutralized the intruder to safeguard national security.

Currently, the identity of the deceased intruder is being determined, along with his intentions for attempting the infiltration. The BSF has launched a search operation in the area to ensure no other threats exist.
In a statement, the BSF authorities confirmed that a formal protest would be lodged with the Pakistan Rangers regarding the incident. The BSF has always maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of cross-border illegal activities and continues to strengthen surveillance and response mechanisms along the sensitive border areas.

The BSF’s prompt and effective response has once again demonstrated its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders and ensuring peace and security in the region.
