The ongoing winter session of the Indian Parliament has seen a significant uproar, with continuous protests and slogan-shouting from the opposition parties over the Adani issue. Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have witnessed disruptions, as opposition lawmakers demand a thorough investigation into the allegations surrounding the Adani Group. The confrontation between the ruling party and the opposition is intensifying, causing repeated disruptions in the proceedings of Parliament.
Congress and Samajwadi Party have been particularly vocal, with accusations of a vote-bank competition between the two. The political clash has added another layer of tension to the ongoing debate.
BJP MP Dinesh Sharma has criticized Rahul Gandhi, alleging that the Congress leader, while carrying the Constitution, is now advocating for its violation. He claimed that Gandhi’s empathy is limited to vote-bank politics, rather than being genuine towards the people about whom he speaks. Sharma further accused Gandhi of using the issue merely for photo opportunities instead of addressing it with sincerity.
On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi has turned his criticism towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of failing to order an investigation into the Adani case, as such an inquiry would implicate him directly. Gandhi alleged that Modi and Adani are one and the same, and that there is no distinction between the two.
The ongoing protests and heated exchanges in Parliament are likely to continue, with the opposition intensifying its efforts to keep the pressure on the government over the Adani issue. This has sparked a major debate, not just in Parliament but also in the public sphere, as the opposition presses for accountability in the matter.
