Monthly tests for 10+2 schools are held in Bihar, but the terrible state of the education system in the Parwalpur block of Nalanda, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s home district, has exposed government plans. Girl students at Balika Plus Two High School must sit on the roof, near the toilet, and in congested rooms to take their exams. This affects not only the quality of education, but also the emotional health of female pupils.

A student stated that there aren’t enough classrooms at the school, so they have to sit wherever they can find space. This scenario has a negative impact on both their education and their exam results. What is concerning is that the school does not have teachers for Science, English, or Sanskrit. Students are taking tests in these disciplines without any preparation, which is proving tremendously tough for them.

Regarding this grave scenario, the principal of the school, Jitendra Kumar Bhaskar, stated that letters had been made to the minister, MP, and officials of the education department for building development in Nalanda multiple times. However, as of yet, no firm answer has been discovered. With just three classrooms to accommodate 982 female pupils, there is a significant barrier to education and testing.

This circumstance has brought into doubt the practicality of the Bihar government’s plans such as ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan’ and ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’.

At the same time, District Education Officer Rajkumar stated that he was unaware of the situation and that appropriate action would be taken immediately. It is worth mentioning that this tragedy has exposed shortcomings in the educational system, emphasizing the need for quick adjustment.
