A significant mishap occurred while practicing the tank crossing of the Shyok River close to the Ladakh Line of Actual Control. The accident claimed the lives of five men, including an Army JCO.
When tankers were practicing crossing the Shyok River in the Union Territory of Ladakh, a serious accident occurred. In this incident, five soldiers, including a JCO, died. Near Mandir Mor, 148 miles from Chushul, the accident happened at around one in the morning. A sudden flooding in the river caused the accident. The facts are being looked at, said PS Sindhu, the defense spokesperson.
According to officials, soldiers were using a T-72 tank to cross a river close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Daulat Beg Oldi region of Ladakh. At this point, there was an unusual flood. Before long, the surrounding land began to be submerged by the river’s growing water level. In addition, the tank began to become tangled in the powerful current.
The army people tried to do their best but the tank lost control. Five army soldiers and the tank were swept away by the swiftly moving river in this scenario. Other army teams arrived at the scene as soon as they heard about the mishap.
Operations for relief and rescue got underway. It was hard to conduct rescue efforts in floodwaters. Despite their best efforts, the soldiers were unable to save their fellow soldiers. Officials revealed on Saturday afternoon that this disaster claimed the lives of five courageous men, including the JCO in the tank. The body of everyone has been found.
The hospital has received the bodies. From here, other procedures have been initiated. Five troops that were sent to protect the nation have given their lives. People from all around the nation, including Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, are standing by the families of those five brave army personnel at this time of grief.
