Sooraj was detained on Sunday morning after being questioned overnight at the Cyber, Economic, and Narcotics Crime Police Station in Hassan. He was then brought to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences (HIMS) for a medical checkup.
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara announced on Sunday that the probe into JD(S) MLC Sooraj Revanna’s alleged sexual assault of a male party worker has been handed over to the CID. Sooraj Revanna, the brother of former MP Prajwal Revanna, was detained in Hassan on charges of ‘unnatural sexual assault’. Sooraj Revanna was arrested on Saturday for allegedly sexually assaulting a party worker a few days prior. In this case, Sooraj has been charged under several sections of the IPC, including ‘unnatural offence’.
The investigation into the case against Sooraj Revanna has been handed over to CID.
On Sooraj Revanna’s charge of conspiracy against his family, Parameshwara stated, “The complaint has been received, and whatever action is necessary under the law is being taken. Apart from that, I am not aware of any political conspiracy, as he has claimed. A message from the office of the Director General of Police and Inspector General of Police to the Director General of Police and Superintendent of Police of Hassan said, “The case registered under Sections 377, 342, 506, 34 IPC at Holenarasipura Rural Police Station in Hassan district has been handed over to the CID for further investigation with immediate effect.” The case file should be turned over to the CID immediately for further investigation.”

Allegations of sexual exploitation by party workers
It is worth noting that a 27-year-old male reported to the police that Sooraj Revanna, the eldest son of Holenarasipura MLA HD Revanna, sexually abused him at his farmhouse in Ghannikada on June 16. Based on the complaint, Holenarasipura police filed a case against the JDS MLC late Saturday evening under IPC sections 377 (unnatural offence), 342 (wrongful imprisonment), and 506 (criminal intimidation). However, Sooraj Revanna (37), the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Devegowda and the nephew of Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, has disputed the charges. Sooraj further claimed that the man filed a bogus complaint against him to extort Rs 5 crore from him.
Brother Prajjwal Revanna is also in jail on charges of sexually assaulting multiple women.
It is worth noting that Sooraj’s brother, former Hassan MP Prajjwal Revanna, is in police jail on allegations of allegedly sexually assaulting many women. He was arrested last month after he returned from Germany. Prajjwal faces rape and threat charges. His father, HD Revanna, and mother, Bhavani, are free on bail. They are accused of kidnapping and holding prisoner the claimed victim of sexual assault by their son Prajjwal.
