Sara Ali Khan made her Bollywood debut in 2018. The actress won over the audience’s hearts with her stunning performances in the films ‘Kedarnath’ and ‘Simmba’ that year. Both films were released in the space of a few weeks. During filming, a scheduling issue arose when the dates of ‘Kedarnath’ changed. Following this, Sara’s management gave some of her dates to ‘Simmba’, causing a commotion. Because of this, the producers of ‘Kedarnath’ sued her. Sara recalled her involvement in a legal dispute before to her debut and explained the situation.
Abhishek Kapoor and KriArj Entertainment were involved in a legal fight, which caused a delay in production. Meanwhile, Sara signed ‘Simmba’, which exacerbated the problem. Sara stated in an interview that the incident had left her shattered and she had no idea how to deal with it because she was alone and her mother and brother were not in town. She stated the matter was settled when Rohit Shetty agreed to give Abhishek Kapoor three days from his ‘Simmba’ schedule.
Sara detailed the case in an interview, saying, “In May 2018, I had to do Simmba.” Kedarnath was the first film I signed, the first set I visited, and Kedarnath represented everything. Then there were some changes in dates, and I also signed Simmba. However, three or four dates were coming together. And sure, I was sued for Rs. 5 crore.
Sara continued, “I was very nervous because I didn’t have five crore rupees.” My mom was in Delhi. Ibrahim was in school, and I received a ‘Vakalatnama’ at home. I didn’t know what to do. So I sent the manager to court because I needed to attend the shoot, which the producers were aware of because they were already on the set. Then I went to Gattu sir (Abhishek Kapoor) and asked him if he wanted my spot girl to prepare coffee for him, and he agreed. Following that, the shoot proceeded smoothly. He must have had his own motives, too. But now everything’s perfect.
When questioned if her boss was sued instead of her, Sara claimed she didn’t know. She went on to say that the issue was resolved after both filmmakers met to work it out. “Then, Rohit sir and Gattu sir met in a room. Ranveer walked in, said okay, and went fast. They only requested three days, and Rohit sir said take them. It was difficult because I spent a lot of time going from Hyderabad to Mumbai while still working for his film,” the actress explained.
