The four gates of the Shri Jagannath Temple will reopen today. This plan was endorsed by the new Odisha BJP government’s first cabinet. Since Corona, the temple gates have been closed.
As of now, all four of the Shri Jagannath Temple’s gates are open again. Mohan Charan Majhi, the chief minister of Odisha, was there when the gates were opened. Following the end of the ‘Mangal Alaati’ rite, all four gates were reopened along with the adoration of Lord Jagannath by Chief Minister Majhi, both Deputy Chief Ministers, ministers, BJP MPs, and other party leaders. ‘Parikrama’ of the temple grounds was carried out by them.
Additionally, the plan to create a Corpus Fund to cover all of the temple’s present expenses has been allowed. In its first cabinet, the newly elected BJP management in Odisha supported this idea.
“The state government has decided to open all four gates of Jagannath Puri in the presence of all the ministers,” Majhi had declared a day earlier. As a result, believers will be able to enter the temple by any of the four gates. Majhi went on to say that one of the pledges in the BJP’s democratic effort was to open the gates of every temple. Devotees are having problems because the gates are closed.
Since the Corona crisis, the four temple doors have been closed by the previous Biju Janata Dal government, leaving only one gate open for devotees to enter. The followers had been demanding for the opening of all the gates for a very long time.
Majhi disclosed that the cabinet has agreed to establish a Rs 500 crore fund for the temple’s upkeep and security. According to the Chief Minister, all of the ministers spent Wednesday night in the pilgrimage town of Puri and would be present when the four gates are opened at the temple.
Majhi stated that the concerned department has been asked to come up with a solution and that the state government will also take action to raise the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy to Rs 3100 per quintal. Additionally, the “Samridh Krishak Niti Yojana” would be an original initiative designed to address problems with agriculture, including MSP.
