In Akhnoor, Jammu, a bus carrying passengers fell into a high gorge on the Jammu-Poonch National Highway. About 40 people are said to have suffered injuries in this disaster, and 15 people have died so far. Operations for relief and rescue are in progress.

On the Jammu-Poonch National Highway (144A), near the Tungi Mor neighborhood of Akhnoor, there was a major traffic collision. Here, a bus carrying passengers fell into a deep ditch. In this disaster, 15 persons have been confirmed dead thus far. There are reportedly about 40 injured people. Of them, GMC Jammu received 20 referrals.

Local residents and police are carrying out rescue operations. After getting out from the ditch, the injured were taken to the Akhnoor sub-district hospital. where Jammu Medical College got the badly injured passengers referrals.
Travelers planned to visit Shivkhodi in order to have a darshan of Baba Bholenath. Based on initial information, this bus, licensed in Uttar Pradesh, was traveling from Jammu to Shivkhodi Dham. The Mata Vaishno Devi temple in Katra is about 80 kilometers distant from Shivkhodi Dham, which is located in Pouni in the Reasi district. It bears Lord Bholenath’s dedication.

The information reveals that the bus’s number is UP 86EC 4078. This bus ran off at Akhnoor’s Tungi Turn and into a deep ditch. At this steep curve, a bus arrived from the front, causing the driver of the accident bus to lose his balance and cause the collision. Shouting and screaming broke out as soon as the bus fell. People living nearby arrived at the location. The police were informed as well. Rescue and relief efforts got underway right away.

The bus’s window was smashed to get the injured onto the road. Some were removed by being pulled on ropes, while others were removed on backs. After that, some of them were carried on backs and others were carried on ropes to the road. Following this, cars were used to transport the injured people to the closest hospital. Ambulance noise kept on echoing throughout this time on the highways.
20 patients with injuries were sent to GMC Jammu. The staff at the hospital was informed as soon as word of the incident reached there. As soon as the injured arrived, treatment was begun. Following first aid, the passengers who were critically injured were referred to GMC Jammu. The GMC Jammu medical staff took command and began treating the injured right away.
