Before the start of the Olympics in Paris, there was a great deal of concern in India around wrestling. There has been a great deal of high-stakes drama involving the trials and selection of wrestlers over the past two years. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has a new president. Brij Bhushan Singh stepped down as president and got replaced by Sanjay Singh. Subsequent to this, the controversy cycle continued. Following this, the Olympic quota and selection trials caused a great deal of controversy. The wrestlers who met the quota were first told they would not be permitted to travel to Paris. They will need to face a trial.

The wrestling association has now published a fresh regulation once more. The Wrestling Association released a fresh statement stating that only the wrestler who has met the criteria for qualifying for the Olympics in Paris will travel to that city. In light of this, Ravi Dahiya, who earned India a silver medal in the men’s 57 kg freestyle in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, will not be competing in this year’s games. It turned up that Ravi Dahiya had not won the quota for the next Olympics. Olympic bronze medallist Bajrang Punia was once facing disqualification.

Sanjay Singh, President of the Indian Wrestling Association, stated: “We followed the rule that whoever gets the quota will go to the Paris Olympics.” This choice was made after a meeting with every member of the selection committee. The confession of wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, who took home a medal from the 2012 London Olympics, has also surfaced at the same time. He stated: WFI President Sanjay Singh and other members attended the trial committee meeting. It was agreed that only quota holders were to be allowed to take part in the Olympics in Paris.
