Arvind Kejriwal petitioned Rouse Avenue Court to provide insulin in jail. The court will hear Arvind Kejriwal’s petition at 2 p.m.
Atishi, a Delhi cabinet member and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, claimed on Thursday that there was a plot to target Chief member Arvind Kejriwal, who has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an excise policy case.
According to Atishi, the Delhi CM was not allowed to have “access to home-cooked food and insulin while in jail. “The jail administration, however, denied these accusations.
Atishi’s allegations came hours after the ED said in court that Kejriwal consumes high-sugar meals such as mangoes and sweets on a daily basis despite having type 2 diabetes in order to qualify for medical bail or hospital stay.
Atihsi told a press conference that the Tihar jail administration had ignored the chief minister’s demands for insulin, and attempts to organize a video conference with his doctor were met with objections by the ED and prions personnel. “For the previous few days, his blood sugar level has continuously been above 300 mg/dL. Despite Kejriwal’s repeated demands, he is not receiving insulin, and his sugar levels are rising. “He is not being given medication because there is a plot to kill him,” she says.
Arvind Kejriwal’s food preferences were the subject of allegations from the ED earlier today before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja, who hears cases from the CBI and the ED. Judge Baweja ordered the officials in charge of the Tihar jail to provide a report on the situation, which included Kejriwal’s food program.
In reply to Atishi’s news conference allegations, the Tihar jail management denied her statements about Kejriwal’s health. They noted that his fasting sugar level stayed within acceptable limits, never exceeding 300.
According to, reporting an unidentified jail officer, “He has been served home-cooked food and medicines in accordance with court orders.” Two doctors in jail are monitoring and caring for his health.
“Kejriwal is among the 250 inmates at the Tihar jail who suffer from sugar disorders. “The doctors in their jails take care of them all,” he said. The emergency department did not react immediately.
Atishi called Kejriwal a terrible diabetic during her news conference and accused the ED of fabricating information regarding his diet. With the ED, the BJP’s “covert organization,” it is aiming to undermine Arvind Kejriwal’s health by preventing him from eating home-cooked meals. She remarked, “The ED has lied in court and spread rumors that Arvind Kejriwal is consuming sweet tea and candies.”
She stated Kejriwal is permitted to drink tea and eat sweets made with the sweetener “Erythritol” given by his doctors. He has had diabetes for thirty years. She revealed that he takes 54 units of insulin everyday to control his blood sugar levels.
She said, “Eating bananas to improve his blood sugar level is the second lie of the ED.”
“I want to advise the BJP and the ED to see any diabetes doctor. Patients with serious diabetes are always advised to have two items on hand in case of emergency. Because those with severe diabetes can experience abrupt drops in blood sugar, which could endanger their lives, they are advised to keep chocolate, bananas, and toffee of any type on hand,” the speaker stated.
Moreover, the Director General (DG) of Prisons has been directed by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena of Delhi to furnish a “factual and comprehensive” report into the AAP’s claims that Kejriwal “did not receive insulin while in Tihar jail.”
Also, the Delhi LG said any ignoring towards CM Kejriwal’s health would not be accepted.
According to an official statement issued by Raj Niwas on Thursday night, the LG raised worry about allegations based on claims made by ministers and ruling AAP leaders saying that insulin was not provided to Chief Minister Kejriwal.
“VK Saxena has expressed grave concern over reports based on statements made by AAP leaders and ministers alleging that CM Arvind Kejriwal, who is in jail, has not received insulin and that there are alleged “conspiracies” against him,” the Raj Niwas stated in a post on X.
It stated, “Shri Saxena has requested that DG Prisons submit a thorough and factual report on the matter within the next 24 hours.”
The Raj Niwas went on, “LG assured that no carelessness with regards to CM’s health will be tolerated, although Prisons as a transferred subject comes directly & totally under the AAP Govt.”
The ED arrested Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy investigation.
On April 15, the trial court extended Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial custody to April 23. The ED said that the AAP is the principal recipient of monies produced by the alleged liquor racket.
