Mamata Banerjee more declared that West Bengal does not have an INDIA bloc for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

Lok Sabha elections 2024 : Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee made fun of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance’s goal of securing more than 400 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections on Sunday.

Speaking at a campaign assembling for Trinamool Congress candidate Mahua Moitra in Krishnanagar, Mamata Banerjee challenged the BJP to win at least 200 seats.

“The BJP says ‘400 paar’; I challenge them to cross the 200-seat mark first,” Mamata Banerjee remarked, according to PTI. “In the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections, they aimed for more than 200 seats but were only able to secure 77. Some of the 77 have since joined us.

The TMC supremo called the BJP a ‘jumla’ party and accused them of “peddling lies” about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The Centre notified the CAA rules on March 11, four years after Parliament passed the bill. The CAA seeks to award Indian citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, including Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians, who landed in India prior to December 31, 2014.

“The CAA is a trap that converts lawful citizens into foreigners. Once CAA is implemented, NRC will follow. “We would not allow CAA or NRC in West Bengal,” Mamata Banerjee added. “Don’t fall for the false assurance of the central government.”

In addition, Banerjee stated, “If you apply, you will be designated as a foreigner for 5 years,” during her first campaign rally following her injury earlier this month.

West Bengal is not part of the INDIA bloc: Banerjee Mamata

At Sunday’s gathering, Mamata Banerjee again accused the CPI(M) and Congress, partners in the INDIA alliance, of “joining hands with the BJP” in West Bengal.

“In West Bengal, there is no INDIA alliance. According to PTI, she stated, “The CPI (M) and Congress are working for the BJP in Bengal.” “I gave this INDIA bloc this name and established it. Following the elections, we will investigate.

Additionally, the chief minister pleaded with the people not to support the Left-Congress-ISF coalition candidates in the state, saying that doing so would be equivalent to “voting for the BJP.”

She also commended Mahua Moitra for opposing the BJP in Parliament. “Despite Mahua Moitra being elected by you people (electorate), she was expelled unceremoniously,” Mamata Banerjee remarked in a statement.

She said, “We have renominated her for this seat. Mahua was ousted because she was the most vociferous anti-BJP member in parliament. “You people have to ensure her victory by a record margin,” she stated.
