Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail did incredible things. It highlighted Vikrant Massey and Medha Shankar in the most important roles.

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj considers 12th Fail’s achievement as “like a silver lining” for independent films at a time when no one knows what will work in theaters. According to the news agency PTI, Vishal also stated that independent cinema has advanced but is currently regressing. He also stated that filmmakers are currently investigating if a picture like Animal, Jawan, Pathaan, or a’mindless south Indian action film’ will work.

Vishal explores ‘indie film’
Vishal stated during a press conference at the Jaipur Literature Festival 2024, “Independent film has advanced considerably. In reality, it advanced and is currently regressing. We are all researching what is causing this. There was a time when Haider, Maqbool, and Omkara were still commercial stars, but films like Dev D and Oye Lucky Lucky Oy were relatively easy to finance. It is now extremely difficult to collect funds for these types of films because everyone is afraid, and everyone is looking into ‘ki kya chalega theatres mein’ (what would work in theatres).

Vishal praises 12th fail.
When asked about 12th Fail, Vishal replied, “A silver lining in this is the success of 12th Fail. There is no celebrity, no strangeness, and the background score is very great. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s filmmaking is genuine, and I believe this is his best. To witness the level of success and love the picture received, if there is a silver lining, the audience is there to watch any type of film, but it must be worthwhile for them to come to theatres. So we are all wondering if a film like Animal, Jawan, Pathaan, or another dumb south Indian action picture will work. Everything is out of balance.

About the 12th Fail
Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail did wonderfully. The film had a reported budget of ₹20 crore. The film, featuring Vikrant Massey, was released in theatres in October of last year. It collected over ₹70 crore at the film office.

12th Fail tells the story of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who rose from terrible poverty to become an IPS officer. The video focuses on his path and how his wife, IRS official Shraddha Joshi, played an important role in his success. Vikrant portrayed Manoj, and Medha Shankar played Shraddha.
